Online Dog Training Module In Development for WW&Co.'s Group Training Program

When I first started doing group training classes, I ran a rather common system. My programs ran six weeks, one hour a week, same day, same time, set curriculum with lecture.

While many of my students may have found my traditional group class setup satisfactory, there was a sizable sector that just couldn't connect with the format.

Whether it be information overload (I packed my classes with info, including handouts), lack of creativity or relevance, subpar drive or shaky confidence, or even continual time conflicts, I can only guess. But one thing I knew for sure. I needed to change things up. I needed something interactive as well as self-pacing and convenient.

What I really needed was a system for everyone with any kind of reason.

So, to go along with planning for a more flexible group class format, I decided it was time to develop an online schooling system.

What makes this different from what others in the business are doing? Truthfully, at least locally, I don't see as many dog trainers taking advantage of the internet to teach in this way. While people can certainly glean info online, without some guidance, there is always the possibility they will miss something important Or worse yet, they may latch onto info that is outdated or plainly false.

With the program in development, the pertinent concepts necessary to train effectively and efficiently will be pieced together in one module. This will also be the place to understand and deal with common behavioral issues. Video presentations and webinars will be abundantly available to help with comprehension and engagement. And to help with retention, there will be quizzes that must be completed to finish the program.

While the online portion will concern theory and self-study, the flexible on-site group format will provide hands-on assistance in a group of dog-handler teams. Considering how many dogs are not proficient in public settings, these group sessions will become vitally important for many.

(By the way, in case you want to learn more about my group class format, there is more information on the Training page of my website at www.wholisticwoofers.com.)

As it stands, the projected availability for both the online school and flexible group training system is Fall 2017. Check back with us periodically for developments.
